Summary
Chris O’Neill is the founding Artistic Director of Shakespeare Carolina, a grassroots, nonprofit theatre company, dedicated to revitalizing the classics and winner of The Charlotte Arts and Theatre Association’s “Theatre of The Year” Award for 2015.
O’Neill has taught at Winthrop University and York Technical College.
As an actor, he has performed on stage, television and film.
O’Neill received his B.A. in Theatre and an M.A. in Arts Administration from Winthrop University.

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR / FACILITY MANAGER – WINTHROP UNIVERSITY
DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC – 9/01 – PRESENT
Operates and maintains technical aspects of Byrnes Auditorium, Tillman Auditorium, and The Barnes
Recital Hall. Provides expertise in as technical troubleshooter, during performances and determines
equipment maintenance and replacement schedules. Directs and coordinates the iroplementation of
contracts, providing equipment and personnel. Arranges and negotiates all rentals. Hires, trains and
supervises all crews needed to perform for event set – up, performance and breakdown. Schedules events
and maintains calendar for all three venues in coordination with The Department of Music. Assesses
company and artist contracts to determine technical requirements for performances.

Responsible for the implementation of the John Casablancas On-Camera Acting Program. Classes include

FOUNDING ARTISTIC DIRECTOR – SHAKESPEARE CAROLINA – 1997 – PRESENT
Responsible for the artistic development of a 50 I C-3 non- – profit Shakespeare festival to include play
selection, directing, actor training, scene and lighting design. Also heavily involved in Fund-raising and
Marketing.
LEAD ACTING INSTRUCTOR – ICE MODELS & TALENT 5/96 – 4/00
Responsible for all aspects of the Acting program for Ice Models and Talent Agency. Classes include Acting for the camera, Improvisation, Audition techniques, and scene and character study as well as IMTA competition coach. Coached over 50 award-winning actors in international competition.

Developed and taugbt a workshop series geared for grades 9-12 and adults. This program was used as an
introduction to the forms and styles of performance used by the Opera House Stage Company. Emphasis
was placed on Shakespeare and other classical works.
FOUNDING ARTISTIC DIRECTOR – OPERA HOUSE STAGE COMPANY – 1994-1995.
Produced and directed a community theatre company in Northern Florida. Duties included fund-raising,
marketing, lighting and set design, as well as carpentry for A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Ten Little
Indians
PRESIDENT & DIRECTOR – MURDER MUSICALE – 1994-2000 Owner and operator of an interactive musical murder mystery theatre company. Performances were held at country clubs, bed & breakfasts, nightclubs, and restaurants in Florida and South Carolina. Supervised and directed 5 part-time professional actors and musicians.
