Summary

As I attended Junkanoo in Nassau, Bahamas the vision of ablaze handmade floats and gaily adorned costumes filled my childhood, becoming one of my many artistic influences. As an African American female of Bahamian and Haitian descent, living in the melting pot of South Florida I was immersed in various cultures. Fortunately my single mother of two recognized my gift and encouraged me to pursue my passion. I auditioned and attended Parkway Middle School of the Performing Arts and Dillard Center for the Arts thereafter. My love for performing arts grew and led me to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Scenic Design at the University of Florida. An intense summer as a scenic designer and camp counselor filled my heart with the call to service children. Now I serve as a service coordinator on the civic engagement team as an AmeriCorps member of City Year Philadelphia.
