I have experience as a marketing director for a large community theatre and worked as an adjunct instructor teaching undergraduate courses in Introduction to Theatre, Acting, Shakespeare, and Play Analysis. In addition, I have acted and directed in numerous plays.
Northern Illinois University – M.A. Theatre Arts. Courses taken include Theatre History, Criticism, Play Analysis, Contemporary Theatre, Directing. Served as Teaching Assistant for Introduction to Theatre and Introduction to Drama. Collaborator on grant funded project creating and performing a theatre piece regarding drinking and driving that toured area high schools. Thesis: Beneath Aesthetics: Textual Analysis of Orson Welles’ Productions of Shakespeare.
Central College (Pella, IA) – B.A. Communication/Theatre. Major courses taken include Acting, Scene Study, Voice, Stage Combat, Theatre History, Stagecraft, Contemporary Theatre, Shakespeare, Seminar: Ibsen/Chekhov/Strindberg. Served two years as president of Alpha Psi Omega honorary theatre fraternity.
Marketing Director South Bend Civic Theatre January 2011-May 2015. Publicity and promotion of season of 12-15 productions for large community theatre ($1,000,000 budget) with three stages (200 seat proscenium, 70-90 seat black box studio, 50 seat cabaret style space). Generated promotional materials including programs, posters, radio/TV copy, press releases, direct mailers. Generated social media content. Maintained website content, including blog posts and videos and photos.
Adjunct Faculty Indiana University South Bend August 2010-December 2012. Taught undergraduate courses in Introduction to Theatre, Acting (Introductory Acting, Scene Study, Realism, Period Comedy), Shakespeare, Play Analysis. Served as Text Coach for production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Assistant Director/Narrator for “The Good Doctor.”
