Scenic Carpenter

Our event decor company is seeking a skilled and experienced scenic carpenter to join our team.

As a scenic carpenter you will be responsible for building and installing scenic elements for various events, including weddings, corporate events, and galas. Decorum is an innovative event design and décor firm with headquarters in St. Louis, specializing in design and installation. We assist in producing the environmental vision of all events whether it’s a charitable gala, wedding, corporate affair or private celebration.

Tasks:

• Work with our design team to develop unique scenic elements that align with the client’s vision and event theme
• Build and construct scenic elements such as stages, backdrops, and custom installations
• Managing time efficiently to meet deadlines
• Safely operating all designated shop systems and equipment
• Maintaining tools, workspace and shop organization
• Painting new or existing pieces to match the design on the show
• Creating and applying custom vinyl elements to created or existing elements
• Helping to maintain shop inventory
• Problem solving during the design and construction of custom elements

Requirements:

• Strong experience as a scenic carpenter
• Ability to read and interpreting design drawings and plans
• Knowledge of standard shop tools and equipment including CNC operation.
• Knowledge of safety protocols while working in a shop environment
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Salary: $18 – $20 per hour
