Short description Storm King Art Center is looking for Director of Development

Director of Development
Storm King Art Center
Mountainville NY

Storm King Art Center is a museum that celebrates the relationship between outdoor sculpture and nature.  It is the internationally acknowledged leader in collecting, exhibiting and preserving large-scale modern sculpture outdoors.  Its five hundred acres of landscaped lawns, fields and woodlands provides a spectacular setting for experiencing the work of renowned artists, many of whom have created site specific works for this natural landscape.

Founded in 1960 by Ralph E. Ogden as a museum for Hudson Valley painters, Storm King soon expanded into a major sculpture venue with the acquisition of works from the estate of David Smith.  The collection included pieces by modern masters and more recently has been joined by large-scale sculptures by contemporary sculptors.

Storm King is celebrating its 50th this season with an array of new offerings including an outdoor exhibition, with ten artists presenting new and recent works for Storm King’s landscape. In celebration it recently hosted a major 50th Anniversary Fundraising Gala at Sotheby’s in New York City.

Storm King is located approximately an hour from New York City in the Hudson Valley and serves a broad range of audiences:  school groups to art cognoscenti and collectors from New York City around the Unites States and the world.  It is open to the public from April 1 through mid-November.

Storm King Art Center is governed by a small and dedicated Board of Trustees, and led by the President and the Director/Curator.

Storm King Art Center is an equal opportunity employer M/F/D/V.
