Full-Time Properties Master

The Properties Master is responsible for the purchasing and building of all hand and scenic props for a show. This includes furniture, set dressing, weaponry and consumables for a production.
In charge of the on time and on budget delivery of all properties for main stage and second stage and Theatre for Family productions.
Schedules and organizes the shopping and construction of properties and set dressings.
In charge of the hiring and scheduling of prop artisans involved with each production
Collaborate with the Technical Director, Master Electrician and Costume Shop Manager to solve properties problems that bridge departments.
Collaborates with Technical Director and Scenic Charge for the painting of large prop elements.
In charge of the properties rental program.
Required attendance at all technical rehearsals and previews.
In charge of the props rental program.
Works collaboratively with scene designers to find quality solutions to properties within time and budget limits.
Maintains onsite and offsite properties storage and inventory.
Proactively research scripts and prop needs; Actively participate in all Production Meetings.
Assist other departments in time of need and skill set; Fosters a teamwork environment between departments

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Expected lift up to 70 pounds unassisted.
Works nights and weekends as scheduled.
EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
BFA or BA in Theatre Production
4 Years of Professional Experience in theatre. 2 Years of experience as Props Master
Obtains proper licensing and permitting for use of firearms and open flame on stage.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated planning and organizational skills
Demonstrates knowledge of MS Office including MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, manage personnel, projects and multitask
Ability to accurately budget and track expenses for prop needs
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Ability to communicate orally and in writing
Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
Thorough knowledge of Art and Architecture history including furniture and motifs.
Ability to successfully collaborate with scenic designers to achieve the production’s vision.
Shows evidence of finding creative solutions and possesses a high aesthetic standard.
Thorough knowledge of construction materials including plastics and epoxies.
Thorough knowledge of construction techniques and materials including wood, steel, plastics, foam, moulds, epoxies and soft goods.
Demonstrates knowledge of small motors, pneumatics, hydraulics and electronics.
Basic understanding of costume history
Knowledge of pyrotechnics, special effects, and flame special effects
Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, or equivalent photo editing software
Experience driving a box truck or trailer preferred
