Freelance Gallery Curator – New York
Barney Savage Gallery is seeking a motivated and creative individual for a curatorial opportunity.
This is an open window for a selected individual curator to propose their project.
The gallery is offering to cover expenses related to operating the proposed exhibition, including installation, staffing, marketing, sales, insurance and storage during the duration of the proposed project.
• Working with the Director for approvals on ideation.
• Leading studio visits, and artist meetings if necessary to understanding the proposed artwork(s).
• Planning for, and assisting installation of the proposed exhibition.
• Arranging and attending opening reception.
• Coordination of any necessary deinstallation and return of artwork.
Ability to preform the responsibilities above, independently, as well as with others.
Must have examples of past curatorial projects created, and/or be able to clearly present ideas for intended curation.
Must reside in the greater New York City area, and attend meetings at the gallery.
Must demonstrate responsibility and professionalism.
All sales will be negotiated with the curator and artist(s) prior to the proposed exhibition. The curator is entitled to a negotiated percentage of all sales of artwork from their proposed exhibition.
