Full-Time Gallery Assistant – New York
Matthew Marks Gallery seeks a full-time gallery assistant to work in our New York location.
The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, personable individual with a background in art history and previous administrative experience at a gallery. He or she must be able to perform a multitude of tasks in an environment that requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and adaptability.
Responsibilities of the position include greeting visitors and answering questions from the public, selling gallery publications, maintaining artist biographies, preparing checklists for exhibitions, updating the gallery’s mailing list, and handling press release and exhibition announcement mailings. The assistant will also be expected to provide general support to the gallery directors, which involves preparing sales packages for clients and making travel arrangements, among other duties.
