Job Description

New Spire Arts, an exciting new performing arts and education center in Frederick, Maryland, invites applications and nominations for the position of Executive Director, available immediately.

The Organization

New Spire Arts (NSA) is a new performing arts education and performance center in Frederick, the second largest city in Maryland and about an hour’s drive northwest of Washington, DC. Two downtown properties are being renovated into New Spire Stages and New Spire Spaces, performance and education venues, respectively. New Spire Stages, the city’s former Cultural Arts Center, will be an arts performance and information focal point for the community and will include a 250-seat black box theatre and small amphitheater/gathering space. New Spire Spaces, a former Department of Education facility, will be an education and creative hub, with classrooms and suites designed to serve current and future forms of performing arts presentation and instruction. New Spire Arts is expected to launch progressively, with initial programing as early as summer 2017.

Working in collaboration with AMS Planning and Research, New Spire Arts recently completed a strategic plan to guide its evolution and prioritize program initiatives. NSA adopted the following mission: New Spire Arts inspires creative engagement from all facets of the community by providing programming and education in, about, and through the performing arts. The goals underpinning this vision and mission are:

• Cultivate a vibrant arts community
• Provide a diverse array of experiences
• Activate the buildings and downtown
• Develop a sustainable operating model
• Engage and entangle all residents of Frederick County in the arts

New Spire Arts is being developed with catalytic support from the Ausherman Family Foundation with strategic guidance from AMS on all aspects of its development. That development is grounded in a belief in partnerships as a source of strength and a desire to foster a welcoming, accessible environment for creative engagement.
