Part-Time Education Coordinator
For over 35 years, Pyramid Atlantic Art Center has demonstrated its commitment to the art of the book, printmaking and papermaking. Located in the heart of downtown Silver Spring, Maryland, PAAC leads and inspires through artistic excellence and community engagement.
We are seeking an energetic, forward-thinking Education Coordinator to lead the growth of our workshops and education programming. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and collaborative spirit, should be detail oriented, and should be familiar with contemporary trends in the field(s) of printmaking, papermaking, and/or book arts,
General Description: The Education Coordinator is responsible for executing the education and public programs and projects that are in line with Pyramid’s strategic and artistic goals.
Essential Tasks: The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the position, as necessary. The Education Coordinator will report to the Artistic Director.
Gathering workshop descriptions and photos from Pyramid’s Artistic Staff.
Researching and inviting external (visiting) instructors to teach at PAAC.
Overseeing workshop descriptions and editing as necessary.
Designing (or managing a volunteer in designing) quarterly workshop brochure.
Listing all workshops on internal calendar and on website.
Highlighting the educational programs at events, open houses, etc.
Handling student cancellations, refunds and credits.
Analyzing and interpreting student evaluations, and conveying appropriate feedback to instructor if necessary.
Coordinating workshop publicity. This includes working with Social Media Coordinator and Executive Director in promotion of workshops.
A timely and frequent communicator.
A researcher. We are looking to bring new and innovative instructors to PAAC, and therefore we want an Education Coordinator who is curious, driven, and always looking for instructors who would bring innovative techniques and concepts to PAAC.
An attention to detail.
A background in printmaking, papermaking and/or printmaking.
A familiarity with desktop publishing software such as InDesign and/or Photoshop
Hours and Salary
Hours vary, but on average 8 hours per week.
Position pays $15 per hour and 24 studio access is provided
