Title: Celebrate the Beat (CTB) Development Manager
Reports to: Executive Director and Artistic Director
Status: Part-Time: hours TBD, January 16, 2017 to August 11, 2018
Location: Denver, CO

Purpose of Celebrate the Beat Development Manager Role:
The CTB Development Manager is responsible for raising funds for CTB. You will produce four major events in four separate locations while working closely with board members and Artistic and Executive Directors to identify and qualify new prospects and actively cultivate, solicit, and steward potential guests who we hope will become major donors. The CTB Development Manager is part of the CTB administrative staff. The goal of the part-time CTB Development Manager is to establish a successful foundation for the position that can lead to a full-time position which will include procuring major gifts, supervising the annual fund drive, and helping with PR and marketing.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develops and sustains a network of broad local support through networking, attending special events, and building relationships with organizations and individuals who can support the work of CTB, including but not limited to Denver area public schools, city of Denver, and state of Colorado.
• Works with the Board, Artistic Director, and Executive Director to set event income goals and oversee and carry out all related activities, including planning and implementation of four fundraising events between February 2018 and August 2018.
• Recruits volunteers and manages and sets goals for event committees with the ultimate goal of building a strong and sustainable fundraising base to support ongoing operations.
• Creates and maintains a personal portfolio of individual and corporate prospects and donors. Donor strategies include: identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects and donors via one-on-one meetings, telephone conversations, written correspondence, and emails.
• Communicates with, recognizes, cultivates, solicits and stewards donors in every location we hold programs.

Working Conditions, Environment and Physical Requirements:
• Functions performed in a variety of environments including: CTB office, schools, residency sites, and other locations
• Requires reliable transportation to CTB locations, participating schools, residency sites, and community events
• Requires limited weekend and evening hours
• May be required to lift up to 15 lbs.
• May be required to navigate stairs

Job Specific Requirements:
• College Degree
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in development, with demonstrable experience in direct major gift solicitation
• Communicates effectively through clear speaking, writing, and effective listening; writing samples required, preferably direct solicitation letters and proposals
• Strong organizational, computer, and smart-phone skills, strong development database skills, IPhone calendaring and emailing skills
• Demonstrates adaptability through a willingness to be flexible and versatile in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency
• Willingness to assist with whatever needs to get done for the success of the organization including weekly donor visits outside the office and running errands
• Management experience and supervision skill
• Solves problems by identifying causes, gathering and processing relevant information, generating possible solutions, making recommendations, and resolving problems

Full-Time Director of Development Responsibilities (if position is eventually offered)

Administrative Leadership and Management
• Coordinates with Executive and Artistic Director to develop the strategy for fundraising goals, staffing needs, and vision to achieve the growth objectives set forward in the organization’s long range plan.
• Develops an annual solicitation strategy and benefit package and for meeting the budget goals.
• Works with board members to build major donor activity in Colorado, with the goal of increasing membership in the Circle of Creators, Circle of Leaders, and Circle of Friends, and meeting the individual giving goal, with the additional goal of laying the groundwork for young donors in Denver.
• Promotes CTB in the community through attending events outside of CTB.
• Prepares quarterly reports for board meetings as needed
• Maintains and updates the organization’s donor records, including database entry, mailing lists and development calendar
• Writes and tracks donor acknowledgments and recognition
• Coordinates logistics for appeals and newsletters
• Manages the donor database and training of new users
• Tracks mass donor communications and running reports from the database

• Works with the Executive and Artistic Director to create a development budget and have a working knowledge of the overall organizational budget.
• Works with the Executive Director to ensure accuracy in tracking of budgets to stay within the approved budget.
• Reports any budget variances to Executive Director.
• Tracks progress toward assigned budget items to ensure income goals are met and expenses are not exceeded.

• Works to significantly broaden the CTB donor base for the overall visibility of our programs.
