Full-Time Director of Development
Carolina Performing Arts, a constituent unit of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, seeks Director of Development to lead the department’s activities with securing philanthropic resources for Carolina Performing Arts.
Reporting to the Executive Director for the Arts (EDA), the Director of Development (DoD) serves as a key leadership team member and an active participant in making strategic decisions for Carolina Performing Arts (CPA). In partnership with the EDA, this position is responsible for all fundraising and development activities of CPA. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build Carolina Performing Arts’ visibility, impact, and financial resources on campus, in the community, and for the field. The DoD will design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing key campus and community alliances in order to achieve its strategic goals. The position serves as primary liaison to the Carolina Performing Arts International Advisory Board (IAB).
The DoD will have primary responsibility for establishing and implementing the infrastructure needed to grow a $5 million annual operating budget through the solicitation of major gifts, government grants, special events, and corporate and foundation support.
S/he will expand and diversify CPA’s donor base/pipeline and work closely with other team members to secure funding for new initiatives. In addition, the DoD will work closely with the NAB and support board members as they take on a more active fundraising role. It is expected that the amount raised by CPA will increase in future years as the DOD systematically and effectively strengthens the organization’s overall fundraising capacity.
