Shippensburg University is currently searching for an experienced and innovative Director to lead the H.Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center. Anticipated starting salary range is $92,000 to $107,000 annually depending on experience, and includes an extensive benefits package and tuition waiver for employee and dependents.
The 1488 seat H.Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center presents and supports approximately 30 broad range high quality cultural, educational, and entertaining performing arts shows and activities that reflect and expand upon the interests of a diverse audience in the southcentral Pennsylvania region.
The Director is responsible for the leadership and management of the Center and will oversee the selection, booking, preparation, and presentation of live and university events and will supervise a staff of six employees. In addition, the Director develops and maintains an annual marketing budget and is responsible for all public relations and social media for the Center. Strategic planning, fund raising and contract negotiation are other key responsibilities. The Director will also serve as the manager of the Center’s alcohol license and must be available to work evenings and weekends. The website for the Luhrs Center is www.luhrscenter.com.

Located in the picturesque Cumberland Valley, Shippensburg is 45 minutes from Gettysburg and the state capital of Harrisburg, one hour from Hershey, PA, and 2 hours from Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C.

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and a minimum of ten years of leadership experience in a performing arts organization. Experience must include demonstrated success in programming, fundraising, fluency in marketing and social media, contract negotiation and implementation, strong financial management skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and supervisory experience. The successful candidate must be able to be approved by the LCB to manage the Center’s alcohol license. A Master’s Degree and leadership experience in an academic setting are preferred. Successful performance in an on-campus interview is required.
