Job Description

The Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts is a non-profit, multi-disciplinary cultural arts center that presents performances by world-renowned artists and ensembles; offers arts education opportunities; curates the Ploch Art Gallery, which features both national and Wisconsin-based fine artists; and is committed to extending the arts beyond the walls of the Center through Lynn Chappy ArtsPark—a vibrant, outdoor sculpture landscape that will engage and inspire the broader Southeastern Wisconsin Community. We are presently seeking an organized, enthusiastic, tech-savvy person with an interest in the arts to help the Center in its fundraising efforts in the role of Development Manager. This role will be responsible for assisting the President & CEO, Vice President-Development, and other staff in developing and implementing an annual fundraising strategy for the Wilson Center. This includes maintaining and expanding the Center’s funding from private foundations, individual donors, and corporate partners.

Job Duties
• Provide organization, production, and maintenance of annual campaign materials and data
• Consult with the Vice President-Development to strategize annual campaign fundraising efforts for individual donors
• Organize and manage direct mail appeal campaigns and work in coordination with the Vice President-Development to implement Ambassador Program for Annual Fund
• Conduct prospect research for individual donors and foundations using various sources and tools to augment existing data on prospects in the Tessitura database
• Manage deadlines for foundation and corporate grants
• Working in coordination with the Vice President-Development, solicit foundation grants, produce letters of inquiry and grant proposals, and attend meetings with current and prospective foundation contacts
• Write acknowledgement letters, interim and final narrative and financial reports, and other relevant foundation correspondence
• Maintain effective planning and tracking documents, such as spreadsheets, plans, and communication tools for the special events, annual campaign, corporate sponsorships, and additional projects
• Create and manage stewardship plans for individual, foundation, and corporate donors and coordinate donor benefit fulfillment
• Work with development team and volunteer committees to plan and execute the Center’s two annual fundraisers: the Big Event and the Golf Classic
• Assist with additional development projects as assigned

Essential Skills/Qualifications needed:
• Excellent written and oral communication skills required
• Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, supporting shared goals
• Ability to work independently when necessary on individual projects and see them through to completion; self-starter
• Ability to create and adhere to schedules and deadlines required
• Experience and comfort working with donor database; Tessitura database software experience preferred
• Flexibility to pitch in wherever needed in organization
• Ability to work with donor information, records, and communications with accuracy and confidentiality
• Strong analytical, writing, editing, organizational, and project management skills desired
• High degree of initiative and attention to detail; ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Bachelor degree and 3+ years of development experience, preferably with foundation and individual giving programs
• This is a full-time, exempt position; willingness to work nights and weekends for events as required
