Job Description

The University of Dallas (UD) is seeking applications for the position of Curator of the Beatrice M. Haggerty Gallery. The Beatrice M. Haggerty Art Gallery is the University’s primary professional exhibition space. Its mission is to enhance the cultural and educational environment of students, faculty, and staff at UD, and to provide outreach to the larger community. The successful candidate will be responsible for curating and mounting exhibits of professional artists for the gallery that will enhance the studio/classroom education. The Department of Art consists of five areas of study including Art History, Ceramics, Painting, Printmaking, and Sculpture and offers BA, MA, and MFA degrees. Exhibitions that reinforce the wide variety of disciplines within the corpus of the university and the university’s mission are especially of interest. As Curator, the individual will be responsible for all aspects of the Haggerty Gallery and will work closely with the Exhibition Committee. Moreover, as an integral member of the art department faculty, the Curator may teach up to four credits per semester.

The ideal candidate will hold a graduate degree in art/art history (MFA or MA/PhD) with at least three years curatorial experience, have some college-level teaching experience, experience supervising gallery operations and budget, have the ability to collaborate with diverse populations and institutions, have some experience with digital resources and website development, show a commitment to both community art activities and individual student mentoring, and show a proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with volunteers and in community relations and outreach capacities
