The University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) is the first state-supported, residential school of its kind in the nation. Established as the North Carolina School of the Arts by the N.C. General Assembly in 1963, UNCSA opened in Winston-Salem (“The City of the Arts”) in 1965 and became part of the University of North Carolina system in 1972. More than 1,100 students from middle school through graduate school train for careers in the arts in five professional schools: Dance, Design and Production (including a High School Visual Arts Program), Drama, Filmmaking, and Music. UNCSA is the state’s only public arts conservatory dedicated entirely to the professional training of talented students in the performing, visual, and moving image arts.
This position will teach classes in Applied Prosthetics including Sculpting and Mold-making.
The position will actively mentor students in the design and execution of diverse production assignments including drama, musical, opera and film.
Provide assistance in curriculum planning and design.
Participate in formal advising and mentorship of students.
Participate in core faculty institutional service, including: attendance at departmental faculty meetings and retreats. Participation in departmental, school and campus wide committees.
Other tasks as assigned by the Dean
MFA in the teaching discipline or a related discipline or equivalent professional experience
Strong Leadership skills
Master Teacher of Applied Prosthetics, Sculpting and Mold-making
Ability to work closely, and in collaboration with a diverse student body, faculty and staff.
Ability to contribute to curriculum planning within the Wig and Makeup Program and the School of Design & Production
Must pass background check
Additional skills in one or more of the following areas: Wig making, 3-D rendering, Airbrushing or animatronics enhance the application.
UNCSA utilizes a multi-year contract system in lieu of tenure.

This position is being recruited at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
