Job Description

Ball State University is inviting applications for a Tenure-Track Faculty Appointment for August, 2017.

Major responsibilities: The ability to teach all levels of theatre history courses in a highly competitive BA/BS/BFA undergraduate theatre program. Successful candidate will also teach online Introduction to Theatre courses and facilitate the Department’s efforts in regard to online teaching and “blended” courses. Teaching load may include Introduction to Theatre, Pre-Modern Theatre History, Modern Theatre History, and Theatre of the 21st Century. Successful applicant will also help mentor and advise all aspiring dramaturgs and critics within the Department’s undergraduate Theatrical Studies Option.

Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in Theatre (completed by August, 2017), experience with online, blended, hybrid, or other digital teaching methods, one year of teaching experience at the university/college level, excellent communication and organizational skills, ability to work collegially within a liberal arts setting.

Preferred qualifications: Three years of teaching experience at the university/college level. The department is a BFA/BA/BS undergraduate-only program with 375 theatre majors and 60 dance majors and a full-time faculty of 29 theatre and 7 dance. The Department maintains an active role in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) and the Kennedy Center American College Dance Festival (KCACDF). Theatre and Dance programs are NAST/NASD accredited.
