The Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Louisville seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor whose teaching, scholarly/creative activity can contribute to our undergraduate and graduate programs and our internationally recognized African American Theatre Program (AATP), the first and only certificate-bearing African American Theatre Program in the United States. The ideal candidate will be an excellent teacher, stage director, and mentor to students. Preference will be given to candidates who have training and experience in an acting pedagogy that is rooted in and includes foundational approaches such as Stanislavsky and Meisner. Additionally, s/he will advise students seeking the African American Theatre or Black Performance Studies minor as well as the Graduate Certificate for African American Theatre.
Qualifications: A terminal degree (M.F.A. or PhD/ABD) with emphasis in African Diaspora Theatre, two years of university-level teaching. A commitment to engaged scholarship and building relationships with campus and community partners is desired. Grant-writing or other administrative experience is desired. The candidate will show evidence of an active scholarly/creative agenda that warrants the path to tenure at a Research-1 university.
This position will begin on August 1, 2018 and is pending budgetary approval.
