The Georgia College Department of Theatre and Dance seeks a dynamic Assistant Professor for Acting/Directing and stage director to teach acting and directing, direct in our performance season, and teach at least one general education (core) class, including Theatre for Social Change beginning Fall 2018. The candidate will have an appreciation of African-American Theatre and ability to direct plays from the canon of African-American playwrights as well as the larger scope of playwrights throughout history. The Assistant Professor will work in an environment of artistic and academic excellence at one of the nation’s top public liberal arts universities. We seek an individual who is committed to theatre and teaching within the context of a strong liberal arts environment devoted to diversity, internationalism, community outreach, engaged learning, undergraduate research, and the free exchange of ideas. The Assistant Professor will direct one play per year, mentor a diverse population of students, and have expertise in teaching both acting and directing. The department is especially interested in candidates who can work collegially and effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and whose experience, research, teaching, and service can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

Applicants must have a terminal degree in Theatre or Performance Studies, or related field and a record of excellence in teaching and artistic or scholarly activity, especially in the field of acting and directing.
