Full-Time Artist/Teacher Studio Voice and Lyric Theater
Job Description
Duties:
Voice studio instruction; primary responsibility for coordinating and producing opera, operettas, and musical theater as integrated components in the context of a highly respected vocal arts curriculum. Other assignments could include teaching acting in opera and musicals, movement class, scene study, a seminar for first-year students, class voice, and other vocal performance topics. The successful candidate will demonstrate skills in student recruitment and community outreach and participate fully in the service of the university including student advising, and will be expected to pursue creative activities appropriate to the discipline.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have significant professional experience in vocal instruction and in the staging, musical direction, and performance of diverse genres of musical productions, as well as understanding the environment of a top-tier liberal arts institution. The candidate’s background should include opera as well as classical and modern musical theater. Undergraduate and graduate performance degrees in music or musical theater are expected; a doctorate or commensurate professional experience is required.
