Instructor in Technical Theatre and Design,
with a specialty in Lighting, Sound, and/or Scene Design

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Master’s in drama/theatre arts/performance OR Bachelor’s in drama/theatre/performance AND Master’s in comparative literature, English, speech, literature, or humanities OR the equivalent

Preferred
· Specialization in lighting design and sound
· Experience in scenic design
· At least two years teaching technical theatre at a college
· Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
· Theatre experience and/or other professional Theatre activities beyond teaching
· Demonstrated organizational /administrative skills, which may be applicable should the successful candidate become department chair in the future
· Experience with assessment of student learning (e.g., Student Learning Outcomes)
· Ability to teach related technologies, such as CAD, stagecraft, etc

ASSIGNMENT

Duties include:
· Teach 15 hours a week per semester and hold regular office hours. Opportunities may exist for summer and winter intersession teaching. The probationary instructor will teach classes in Lighting, Scene Design, Stage Craft, Play Production, and Introduction to the Theatre, among others
· Participate in student advising
· Assist in curriculum and program development
· Participate in the assessment of Student Learning Outcomes
· Participate in department and campus committees and activities
· Participate in Theatre productions as technicaldirector.
· Perform other academic duties as assigned

The Los Angeles Community College District determines placement on the pay scale depending on verified education and employment history.
Current starting annual salary range is $47,600-$74,110.
