Greetings,

I am Jashodhara Sen, and I have completed my Masters in Theatre from Oklahoma State University in 2013. I am interested in any full-time position in which I would be able to utilize my previous experiences and also learn from experts. I respect and admire the innovative work your school is currently pursuing, and it would be a privilege to be part of the group.
After my training in contemporary Indian theatre and Masters in Theatre with a specialization in directing, I am eager to use my education and experience in the field of theatre education, and work with youth. My knowledge will be enriched upon getting an opportunity to work with an organization which is rich and diverse. I am a fast learner with acute concentration and patience. My next experience to work with youth is in the United States working as a teaching assistant. I assisted for Introduction to Theatre and Contemporary Theatre. During the course of two years, I substituted for the instructor several times and did presentations on Brechtian Theatre, Theatre of the Oppressed, Indian and Asian Theatre, and Theatre for Social Change. I love to hear from the students as much as I enjoy sharing my experience and knowledge with them. As a part of my thesis directing project, I have directed British playwright Caryl Churchill’s play Far Away. Directing a play in an educational yet professional setting was an excellent learning experience for me.
I am an enthusiastic and self motivated person. I can bring enthusiasm, passion, intelligence, and humility to the organization. I am a trained dancer and have outdoor experiences with Girl Scouts in India. I am trained in photography and painting. I have experience in teaching theatre to children and adolescents for a non-profit educational organization in India. As a student of performing arts and an educator, I believe in team work which is an essential part of any educational institution. In addition, I enjoy working with groups of all ages and wish to explore different cultures. My passion is to educate the youth using theatre as a medium.
My recent career goal is to device my knowledge and experience for an organization and work in their performing arts department. In due course, I want to work with underprivileged and socially unrecognized youth groups, using Eastern theatre experience with Western theatre techniques and creating a multicultural experience for them to create a better future. The academia has developed inquisitive learner in me to that extent where I want to make use of it in the real world of theatre. My academic background in theatre gives me the confidence to reach out to showcase my diverse education and cultural background. At present, a job as a theatre educator is what I require the most to fulfill my goals.
I firmly believe that I can bring my strong, diverse creative and outdoor experiences to best fit the requirement of a teacher. I am attaching my resume for further information about me.
I welcome the opportunity to speak with you about my qualifications if needed, and ways that I can contribute to your program.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Jashodhara Sen
